NBC Shines Spotlight on Phoenix Mecano’s Youth Apprenticeship Program

Phoenix Mecano is honored to have recently been featured in a story by NBC Washington that highlights our partnership with Frederick County Public Schools. This youth apprenticeship program provides students with hands-on experience and valuable career opportunities. One apprentice, Andora Corley, entered the program and completed 450 hours of paid work, saying, “It’s strongly changed everything about my life so far, in a good way.”

We were so impressed with Andora’s work that when she graduated, we hired her onto our team full-time. “That has skyrocketed my confidence majorly. I feel more sure about myself—in my abilities and my skills.”

Andora is just one of multiple cases of such success. A number of former apprentices are now valued members of our team, continuing to grow with us beyond graduation. This story by NBC Washington highlights something we’ve always loved about Frederick, Maryland… community! Without a great professional and student-focused workforce services community, these kinds of partnerships wouldn’t be possible and opportunities for bright young minds would be more difficult to attain.

Together, we’re building a better future for manufacturing in our community.
